Saskatchewan’s Water Security Agency is warning there could be flooding in the province next spring, even if the snowpack is near normal this winter.

The agency says the soil is still saturated across much of the grainbelt, despite near-normal precipitation over the past two months.

It says larger wetlands remain near full and many creeks across the province are continuing to flow at or near record levels for this time of year.

At this point, the snowpack is expected to be near normal this winter.

However, the agency said it’s too early to say with any certainty whether flooding will occur next spring.
