The driver of a school bus has been charged after a January collision with a car on the Trans-Canada Highway just east of Regina.

RCMP say the 36-year-old school bus driver has been charged under the Traffic Safety Act with failing to yield to oncoming traffic when making a left-hand turn.

The car became wedged underneath the rear of the bus in the Jan. 16 crash, which happened in the eastbound lanes of Highway 1 at Tower Road.

The male driver and lone occupant of the car was freed from the wreckage by firefighters and taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

None of the children on board the bus were hurt in the collision.
