Two people have been taken to hospital after a fiery crash on the Trans-Canada Highway near Belle Plaine.

RCMP say a vehicle caught fire after it rolled over on Highway 1 near the Belle Plaine overpass around 4 p.m. Friday.

There were unconfirmed reports that bystanders pulled the two people inside the vehicle from the burning wreckage.

The male driver of the vehicle was flown to Regina General Hospital by STARS air ambulance, while the male passenger was transported by EMS to the Moose Jaw hospital. The extent of their injuries wasn't immediately known.

Westbound traffic on Highway 1 was restricted to one lane near the scene for about two hours while police investigated.
