Police have released more details on a daylight shooting in North Central Regina that left a man injured.

Officers responded to a report of an injured man at a home in the 1300 block of Athol Street around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

When police arrived, they found an 18 year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was taken to hospital by EMS with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

More than a dozen police vehicles responded to the scene. Police set up a safety perimeter as officers got several other people out of the house.

Forensic investigators gathered evidence at the scene and a search warrant was obtained for the house and property. Police say they found a sawed-off shotgun and a bag filled with ammunition.

Animal control officers also seized two dogs from the home.
