Travel advisories were issued for some highways as a spring snowstorm hit southeastern Saskatchewan on Tuesday.

Travel advisories that were issued Tuesday morning for Highway 11 from Regina to Bethune and Highway 6 north of the city have since been lifted.

A travel advisory for Highway 39 between the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 6 has also ended.

Regina police tweeted there had been 19 crashes reported, two involving injuries, in the 24-hour period that ended around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

There were also several other reports of crashes and vehicles in the ditch outside the city.

Environment Canada says 10 centimetres of snow had already fallen in Regina on Tuesday morning. Areas southeast of the city were expected to receive five to 10 centimetres of snow.

The agency says the area stretching from Moosomin north towards Yorkton could see up to 15 centimetres of snow.

A snowfall warning has since ended in Regina, but several other southeastern communities remained under warnings.

The system is expected to move out of the province Tuesday night.
