Several elective surgeries and endoscopies have been postponed as Regina’s two hospitals deal with overcrowding.

The Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region says 19 elective surgeries and 23 endoscopies will be postponed this week.

Fifteen of the elective surgeries affected are orthopedic. One general surgery, one vascular surgery and two gynecology procedures have also been put on hold.

Meanwhile, the number of interventional procedures being booked at Regina General Hospital has been reduced from six a day to four.

Regina General Hospital has been hovering around 130 per cent capacity this week, while the Pasqua Hospital has been at nearly 110 per cent.

Officials say they hope to resume offering full services next week.

Patients will be notified by phone if their surgery has been cancelled.

Last month, several elective surgeries and endoscopies were cancelled due to overcrowding.
