The Saskatchewan NDP is calling on the government to address overcrowding in the province’s jails.

Government numbers show 360 inmates slept in bunks placed in spaces other than cells, and that many cells can be double bunked.

The NDP wants to know where those inmates are sleeping.

Corrections and Policing Minister Christine Tell says lower-risk inmates are being kept in overflow spaces, such as dormitories, classrooms and gymnasiums. She says all of the spaces are secure.
