An eight-person committee has been appointed in Saskatchewan to develop a new regulatory body to handle teacher certification and discipline.
The province says the body will regulate who is a member of the profession and will oversee disciplinary functions for misconduct or incompetence.
Education Minister Don Morgan says in a release that the current process for regulating teachers is complex and needs to be more transparent.
Word of the transition committee follows a memorandum of agreement between the government and the federation.
