A new trial has been ordered for a Regina man accused of killing his mother.

James Myers is charged with second-degree murder in the May 2013 death of 46-year-old Rachel Shepherd, whose body was found inside an apartment building in the city.

Last month, a mistrial was declared due to a conflict of interest after it was discovered that the victim’s boyfriend had previously been represented by the office of the defence lawyer.

The new trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 13 and is expected to last more than two weeks.
