A collision about eight kilometres north of Regina on Highway 6 sent one person to hospital with serious injuries on Thursday, according to RCMP.

Just before 1 p.m. a pickup-truck and a semi collided head-on.

Police confirmed that the 35 year-old driver of the pickup truck was taken to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance. The driver of the semi was not injured.

Diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid also spilled onto the highway and into the ditch. Envirotech will safely remove the fuel and fluid.

RCMP say the cause of the accident is still under investigation and alcohol was not a factor.

The highway will be closed late into the night, and police are encouraging drivers to take alternative routes.
