Police across Saskatchewan caught more than 300 suspected impaired drivers during a monthly traffic enforcement blitz in May.

Saskatchewan Government Insurance says 280 impaired driving charges were laid and 44 roadside suspensions were issued.

Police also reported 6,159 speeding and aggressive driving offences in May. That’s the highest number of speeding tickets issued during a “traffic safety spotlight” since October 2015.

Officers also handed out 364 tickets for distracted driving, including 251 for cellphone use, and another 469 for seatbelt, car seat or booster seat infractions.
