Police in Saskatchewan issued 156 tickets during a two-day traffic safety blitz targeting seatbelt use and talking or texting behind the wheel.

Of those tickets, 58 were for not using a seatbelt or wearing it improperly, while 35 were for using a cellphone while driving. Another 35 drivers were ticketed for speeding.

Saskatchewan Government Insurance says bad weather and driving conditions hampered enforcement efforts during the blitz, which took place last Wednesday and Thursday.

Last month’s blitz, Operation Fall Frenzy, saw officers across the province hand out 1,079 tickets.
