A man is dead after a collision between a pickup truck and a semi-trailer in southeastern Saskatchewan.

RCMP say the northbound pickup collided with the southbound semi on Highway 9, 40 kilometres south of Whitewood on Friday morning.

The driver of the pickup, a 43-year-old man from Kipling, Sask., died in the crash. His name hasn’t been released.

The driver of the semi sustained undetermined injuries and was taken to hospital by EMS.

Highway 9 was closed near the scene while police investigated. In a news release sent out at 4:30 p.m., RCMP said the highway was expected to reopen to traffic shortly.
