Regina Police Tasered a suspect on Tuesday night after he allegedly barricaded himself in a home in downtown Regina.

The call came in shortly before 10:00 p.m. Police say a 41-year-old woman was being unlawfully confined in the home by a 22-year-old man in what they are calling a domestic dispute.

Police attempted to negotiate with the man and they say they used the Taser after he held an edged weapon to his neck. The man dropped the weapon and police were able to take him into custody and then to hospital.

Charges are pending against the man.

The use of the Taser will be reviewed by a Use of Force committee and reported to the Saskatchewan Police Comission.
