The arena in Strongfield, Sask. was destroyed during a storm on Thursday evening.

The destruction happened around 8:30 p.m. in the small town, approximately 100 kilometres south of Saskatoon.

The rink was built in 1963 and is the only curling rink in the surrounding communities.

Environment Canada is also investigating reports that a tornado may have touched down in central Saskatchewan on Thursday evening.

According to Environment Canada, an eyewitness reported a tornado near Loreburn around 8:25 p.m.

A tornado warning was issued for the R.M. of Arm River, including Davidson and Girvin just before 9:00 p.m., but was cancelled by 9:10 p.m.
