A preliminary hearing has been set for a Regina man accused of murdering two aboriginal women who went missing last fall.

Clayton Eichler will face a preliminary hearing next April on charges including second-degree murder in the deaths of 23-year-old Richele Bear and 21-year-old Kelly Goforth.

Eichler, 33, is also charged with offering an indignity to Bear’s body by having intercourse.

The preliminary hearing is scheduled to begin April 20 and is expected to last two weeks.

If a judge determines there’s enough evidence to send Eichler to trial, the case will be heard by a Court of Queen’s Bench justice sitting with a jury.

Goforth’s body was found in an alley in the 1700 block of McAra Street a few days after she vanished in September 2013.

Bear’s body has not yet been located, but police have said there’s evidence that suggests she is dead.

If Eichler is convicted of both murder charges, he would become Regina's first serial killer.
