Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall is offering condolences to the family of a woman who was his party's finance director.

Lisa Strang, 47, was found dead in her home about 40 kilometres east of Regina in the village of McLean on Saturday night.

John Robert Strang, 48, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder.

RCMP say the accused and the victim lived in the same home and were in a relationship.

Wall says Lisa Strang was a friend and colleague. She had been with the Saskatchewan Party for 11 years and was "an amazing source of information and guidance."

"Although the details of her passing are still yet unclear, Lisa's passing has left a hole in our Saskatchewan Party family," Wall said in a post Tuesday morning on the party's Facebook site.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Lisa's family during this difficult time."

Saskatchewan Party president James Thornsteinson says he and many others are shocked by the woman's death.

"There's a lot of close friends of Lisa's through the party, people she's worked with and dealt with over the years, who are just having a hard time believing this has happened."

He says the party's office will be closed for a few days while grief counsellors meet with staff.

John Strang is to appear Thursday in Regina provincial court.
