Preventing thieves from ‘tapping in’ to bank accounts

The Regina Police Service is advising the public of an emerging crime trend in the city that is largely preventable.

Police say weekly crime trend meetings show that thieves are stealing debit and credit cards from vehicles – and using the tap function to spend money on the cards. Once the cards are stolen, the theft becomes a fraud and victims need to cancel their debit or credit cards.

Police are reminding Regina residents to avoid leaving keys and valuables in their vehicles.
