Saskatchewan's Environment Ministry says the province could resort to closing lakes to fishing or reducing limits for anglers to help preserve fisheries.

Environment Minister Herb Cox says nearly 250,000 anglers of all ages fish in provincial waters each year, but there's always a balancing act to maintain a sustainable supply of fish, particularly in multi-use lakes.

The ministry is reminding people to follow the rules and regulations to help manage the province's fish habitats and ensure natural resources are there for future generations to enjoy.
