It was a colourful Monday morning today in the Queen City as a rainbow flag was raised, marking the 28th anniversary of Regina's Pride celebrations.

Pride events are being held in 12 communities across Saskatchewan. This year’s theme is "We Are Connected" a message that recognizes prominent societal issues, such as homelessness, racism and ageism.

"This shows that we take the issue of gender diversity and equality very, very seriously, and the best way we can do this and show this is by raising the flag,” said Regina Mayor Michael Fougere.

The annual Queen City Pride Parade is set to take place this Saturday in Victoria Park.
