RCMP are investigating after a home in a small southwestern Saskatchewan community was vandalized with hateful graffiti.

“Rag heads,” “bomb makers” and “ISIS” were among the hateful words spray painted on a house and motorhome in Mankota on Wednesday night.

According to neighbours, a family of four lives in the house. The father is an immigrant to Canada.

The vandalism has sparked outrage in the small community, and locals have since helped the family cover up the graffiti.

Ponteix RCMP Const. Gina Wheeler says there are currently no suspects in the case.

“RCMP in Ponteix want to ensure the public, they are fully investigating this crime that took place in Mankota,” Wheeler said.

“They attended the scene shortly after it was reported and are taking it extremely serious.”

Mounties aren’t calling the incident a hate crime, though many in the community are.
