Regina Mayor Michael Fougere and Hamilton Mayor Bob Bratina are adding a new twist to the traditional Grey Cup bet.

This year, the losing mayor must donate their combined weight in food to the food bank in the winning team’s hometown.

As in previous years, the mayor who loses the bet must wear the Grey Cup champions’ jersey at his next city council meeting and fly the team’s flag outside city hall.

“We had a nice chat on the phone yesterday and I told Mayor Bratina that I look forward to the Tiger-Cats coming to our city this week,” Fougere said in a news release Tuesday.

“I also asked him for his shirt size because the Riders are going to win the Grey Cup in front of the Rider Nation.”
