Regina-based Information Services Management (ISM) Canada says it is cutting 80 jobs.

A majority of the positions will be eliminated at the information technology company’s headquarters in Regina, while the remaining jobs will be cut in Saskatoon and B.C. Employees were notified of the decision Tuesday morning.

ISM spokesperson Virginia Wilkinson said the cuts are part of a “transformation” that includes the elimination of the company’s computer operations, production control and print and mail services.

“It’s a difficult day because these are valued employees that are leaving,” Wilkinson said. “But it’s part of the process of a company that needs to stay relevant and profitable as it heads into the future.”

A few positions were eliminated Tuesday, while the rest of the cuts will be phased in by the end of June.

ISM Canada is a wholly owned subsidiary of IBM Canada that deals primarily with Saskatchewan-based companies, including SaskPower, SaskEnergy, Farm Credit Canada and Information Services Corp.
