A man lost his life on the train tracks near downtown Regina over the weekend.

CP Rail employees called Regina police after spotting a body on the tracks near 8th Avenue and Broder Street shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday.

When officers arrived they confirmed that the man was dead, his name is not being released.

Police believe the man lost his life when he lost his footing trying to jump onto a moving train.

Saskatchewan has seen several train collision accidents this summer. Canada's Safety Transportation Board reminds all traffic - both vehicle and foot -  crossing train tracks to be mindful and be positive no train is approaching before proceeding to cross.
