Chris Holden has been named Regina’s new city manager. Mayor Michael Fougere made the announcement at a press conference on Wednesday morning.

Holden was selected by a search committee made up of five people, who conducted a country-wide search.

"Although we cast a wide net, it is a testament to those who work for the City on behalf of residents that we pursued someone with home-grown experience,” said Mayor Fougere in a written release. “Councillors and I are confident Mr. Holden will lead our City to continued smart, sustainable growth as outlined in our Official Community Plan. His public service experience and collaborative approach will serve Reginans well."

Holden, who is a long time city employee, says he is excited about the appointment. He began his career with the city as a life guard and worked his way up the ranks to Director of Communications.

He will move to his new role on March 1st.
