Police say the 58-year-old woman was driving westbound on Sangster Boulevard when she struck the boy, who was crossing the street outside of the marked crosswalk. Police say he was 10 to 15 feet outside the crosswalk, and the crosswalk lights were not activated at the time.

The cyclist was hit head on, and fell onto the road. He was not wearing a helmet at the time, but suffered only minor injuries. The boy was taken to hospital as a precaution.

No charges have been laid and the investigation is ongoing.
