Regina police are looking for a suspect after a male bystander was assaulted with bear spray when he intervened during the attempted robbery of two women.

Police say a lone male tried to rob the two women, ages 57 and 68, in the 2100 block of Prince of Wales Drive shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday.

One of the women sustained minor injuries from falling on the pavement during the incident. When confronted by a male witness, the male suspect started to leave, then turned and sprayed the witness in the face with a canister of bear spray, police said.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, about five-foot-ten to six feet tall with mid-length reddish hair, and a reddish-blonde moustache, beard and long goatee that is shorter on the side. He was wearing a hat, a navy blue windbreaker, tan pants, black gloves and black sunglasses.

Anyone with information that could help in the investigation is asked to contact Regina police or Crime Stoppers.
