Police say a robocall bomb threat that prompted two Regina elementary schools to lock their doors earlier this week was also received at other schools in the province and abroad.

On Wednesday morning, Jack MacKenzie Elementary School and St. Gabriel School received an automated phone call about a bomb threat.

The two schools, which share the same building, were placed in “secure-the-building” mode as a precaution. Police say the threat was not elevated enough to prompt an evacuation.

Regina police searched the building and found nothing suspicious. Police say the threat is similar to recent ones received by other schools in Saskatchewan, the U.S. and the U.K.

Silverspring School in Saskatoon received a similar call Wednesday. No bomb was found after police searched the building.

Regina police are still investigating to try to determine who made the threats.
