It was a winning day both for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Regina Food Bank.

The Riders defeated the Toronto Argonauts at Mosaic Stadium on Saturday, but off the field, fans donated the equivalent of 104,300 pounds of food – a new record for the event, and a 24 per cent increase from 2013.

The collection is part of the Purolator Tackle Hunger campaign. In exchange for their donation of a non-perishable food item or a cash donation, fans had the opportunity to take a photo with the Grey Cup, and enter to win tickets to an upcoming Roughriders home game.

Last year, the campaign collected more than the equivalent of 83,900 pounds of food for the Regina Food Bank.
