Saskatchewan chiropractors are voicing concerns after the release of the 2017 provincial budget.

Effective July 1, 2017, chiropractic services will no longer be covered through the Supplementary Health, Family Health Benefits or Senior’s Income Programs — a move the Chiropractors’ Association of Saskatchewan says will impact close to 6,000 people.

The change will save the government 1.2 million dollars and will make Saskatchewan the only western province that does not provide public health coverage for chiropractic services.

The association says the move will greatly impact the lives of Saskatchewan residents, as chiropractors play a major role in managing back pain and other musculoskeletal conditions.
