A Saskatchewan hockey coach has been sentenced to five years in prison for sexual assault.

Ryan Chamberlin of Cabri, Sask. had pleaded guilty last month to three charges of sexual assault and one count of corrupting children.

Chamberlin, 39, originally faced 10 charges, including invitation to sexual touching, sexual interference and sexual exploitation.

He was charged in February after a parent reported to police that their son had told them about inappropriate interactions he allegedly had with a man. RCMP laid further charges after more alleged victims were identified.

Chamberlin was a hockey coach who had worked in several southern Saskatchewan communities.

As part of his sentence, Chamberlin must register as a sex offender for life.
