LEDUC, Alta. - Charges are pending against a 63-year-old man from Moose Jaw after a close call involving some young children and an RCMP officer.

RCMP say a Mountie was driving in Leduc, Alta., on Monday morning when he saw a motorhome headed toward a crosswalk where 10 young children were getting ready to cross the road.

Although the crossing lights were activated, the officer says the motorhome went through the intersection without stopping.

The Mountie activated his emergency lights but says the motorhome then veered toward his vehicle, taking out the driver's side mirror.

A short time later, the Mountie and an Alberta sheriff were able to pull the vehicle over and make an arrest.

There were no injuries to the children or the Mountie.
