A northern Saskatchewan man is dead after the ATV he was riding went over a cliff.

RCMP say alcohol and the man's failure to wear a helmet are believed to have been factors in his death.

Police say the ATV was located at the bottom of a 10-metre cliff last Monday near Fond du Lac.

He was transported to hospital in Stoney Rapids where he died of his injuries Friday.

The name of the 52-year-old man was not released.

The crash occurred at the decommissioned Gunnar mine site.
