Saskatchewan saw the second largest growth in liquor sales among the provinces last year.

Statistics Canada says year-over year sales of alcohol in the province increased 3.6 per cent to $624.2 million during the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013.

The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority's net income rose 6.2 per cent to $232.2 million – the biggest percentage gain among the provinces.

Nationally, wine sales grew 4.9 per cent, outpacing sales of spirits at 2.9 per cent and beer, which fell 0.1 per cent.

However, beer remained the alcoholic beverage of choice for Canadians, with $9.1 billion in sales.
