RCMP report that they have charged 48-year-old John Robert Strang with first degree murder of Lisa Strang, a 47-year-old female.

Strang was found deceased in her residence in McLean. Police say that at the time of her death she was in a relationship and living with John Strang.

RCMP say that John Strang was found driving on Highway 29 northbound towards the Highway 40 Junction at approximately 11:30 pm Sunday night.

An off-duty RCMP officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of Strang’s Jeep and followed the vehicle until additional RCMP arrived. Strang was then taken into custody.

After the arrest, Strang was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries that occurred prior to his contact with the RCMP.

Strang appears before the Justice of Peace in North Battleford today and will remain in custody until he appears in Provincial court in Regina.

An autopsy is set for next week in Saskatoon.

Mounties were called late Saturday night to a residence in the McLean, Sask. area. 

McLean is located about 40 kilometers east of Regina.
