A second person has now been charged in connection with the murder of Matthew Wells back in October. The body of Wells was found in a home in the 1500 block of Robinson St. on Oct. 22, 2015. A 15-year-old has already been charged in connection with the case.

Police were called to the home just after 3:35 a.m. for a call of an injured person. When they arrived, they found the body of the victim, and Major Crime, Forensic Identification, and the Coroner were brought in.

The same night police were called to a string of crimes, including shots fired into an apartment in the 2200 block of Robinson St. at 3:40 a.m. (no one was injured in that case), and an arson and theft from a vehicle. Investigators believe all three crimes were connected, and a 15-year-old boy has been charged in connection with all three cases.

Investigators have now arrested and charged Jason Dustin Hotomanie, 25, with seven charges in connection with the cases, including second degree murder, theft under $5,000, arson causing damage to property, discharge of a restricted or prohibited firearm with intent, being an occupant in a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm present, possession of a firearm obtained by a crime, and possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition.

Hotomanie made his first court appearance on Friday morning.
