Regina's health region says it didn't consult enough with seniors at a care home when a recreation room was turned into space for health workers.

Debbie Sinnett, spokeswoman for the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region, says the room once used as a social space for residents has been turned into a satellite nursing station.

She adds the residents were given access to a neighbouring room previously used for storage.

Residents at Regina Village say they weren't given notice of the change.

The NDP is asking the health region to return the room to the residents.

Sinnett says it was a necessary switch, but she admits residents should have been given a chance to be more involved.

She adds the health region is committed to repairing the relationship with seniors at the home.
