A charge of sexual assault against a former teacher from southwestern Saskatchewan has been stayed.
A preliminary hearing for Klaus Froese of Swift Current was to begin Tuesday.
But Crown lawyer Steve Kritzer said a review of the file found that the case could not be successfully prosecuted.
The charge can be resurrected within a year if new evidence comes to light.
Froese was accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.
He had been teaching at a school in Swift Current until late last year.
