Parts of southwestern Saskatchewan and southeastern Alberta are bracing for a whole lot of snow.

Environment Canada has issued a weather alert for many communities on both sides of the provincial boundary, saying as much as 15 centimetres could fall.

The alert includes communities such as Maple Creek and Hanna, as well as Cypress Hills Provincial Park.

The weather office says travel will be hazardous because of the snow and cold temperature.

A snow-rain mix is expected by this afternoon
