A judge has ruled that some of the statements a Regina man made to police following the death of a toddler are inadmissible at his manslaughter trial.

Justice Dennis Ball found the Crown had failed to prove that Jason Will voluntarily made two statements to police following the July 2009 death of 18-month-old Raime Myers.

However, Ball also ruled that two other statements the 25-year-old accused made to police are admissible as evidence.

The little boy was in the care of Will, who was engaged to the child's mother, when he stopped breathing.

The trial, which began late last month, is scheduled to resume Tuesday.
