Regina city council has voted in favour of spending $2.5 million to find a builder for a new football stadium, despite calls for a referendum.
More than a dozen people addressed council at Monday night’s meeting.
Several presenters said a referendum should be held on whether the city should take on the debt load of building a replacement for Mosaic Stadium.
Many argued that the city should focus on other priorities, such as affordable housing.
