Calgary coach John Hufnagel says star running back Jon Cornish is unlikely to play when the Stampeders host the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Friday.

In a post on the Stampeders' official Twitter account, Hufnagel says Cornish will likely miss the game "due to general soreness."

The Stampeders (13-2) have already clinched first place in the West Division and will want to have a healthy Cornish in the post-season.

Cornish, from New Westminster, B.C., leads the league in rushing with 977 yards despite missing seven games this season to injury.

Cornish missed six contests in July and August with concussion-like symptoms and didn't play against Montreal in September with what the tam called "nagging injuries."
