RCMP are looking for a suspect in a rash of bank robberies in southern Saskatchewan.

Since May 2016, there have been six robberies and two attempted robberies at banks in the region, RCMP said in a news release Thursday.

Mounties are continuing to investigate the following incidents:

  • A bank robbery in Pangman on May 13, 2016.
  • A bank robbery in Hodgeville on June 24, 2016.
  • Another bank robbery in Pangman on Jan. 4, 2017.
  • An attempted robbery at a bank in Pangman on Feb. 6, 2017
  • A bank robbery in Holdfast on March 10, 2017.
  • A bank robbery in Glentworth on May 17, 2017.
  • An attempted robbery at a bank in Glentworth on June 5, 2017.
  • A bank robbery in Central Butte on June 13, 2017.

No one was injured in any of the incidents.

Investigators have noted similarities in the eight incidents. The suspect is consistently described as a man, 40 to 50 years old, and five-foot-five to five-foot-eight with a heavy-set or stocky build.

The suspect has worn dark balaclavas or toques, gloves, a grey hooded sweatshirt, a tan coat, an orange hoodie with an Under Armour logo on the front and a camouflage or dark coat.

Potential vehicles involved include a grey van, a red SUV and an older-model dark-coloured Chevrolet extended cab truck, possibly a Silverado model.

“Safety is always our number one priority,” RCMP said in the news release. “We want to assure the public that we’ve been investigating the similarities in these robberies for a period of time.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact their local police service or Crime Stoppers.
