A drug warrant, a BB gun shooting, a bear spray attack and a taxi robbery kept Regina police busy overnight Friday.

Drug warrant

Police executed a search warrant on a house in the 3500 block of Dewdney Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking, according to a media release. The SWAT team and an armoured vehicle, as well as crisis negotiators, patrol officers and canine units were all sent to the residence.

Police have not yet released significant details on the search, but said several people were taken into custody without incident.

Further investigation is needed to determine what charges may be laid and what role each individual may have played in alleged criminal activity, the police media release stated.

BB gun

A separate incident about an hour after police began searching the Dewdney home saw officers called to McCarthy Boulevard and 9th Avenue North. A person was reportedly shot with a BB gun while walking in the area.

Police were unable to obtain a description of the suspects and are still investigating the incident.

The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated in hospital.

Bear spray

A call around 2 a.m. Saturday again sent officers to Dewdney Avenue — this time to the 1700 block of Dewdney Avenue East for an unrelated incident. A male youth reportedly smashed a window of a business and sprayed someone inside with bear spray. The youth, who cannot be named, was arrested and charged with mischief and weapons offences.

The victim received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Taxi robbery

A 26-year-old was charged after a cab driver was allegedly threatened with a knife and robbed.

Police were called to Arens Road and Laurier Crescent shortly before 3 a.m. An undisclosed amount of cash was reportedly stolen from a taxi driver.

The 26-year-old was arrested a short time later and charged. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

The driver was not injured.
