The Swift Current Indians baseball club has announced that they will change their name for the 2017 season.
The club says the team’s new name will reflect their deep roots in the community.
"The tradition and passion for baseball in this region will still be strong and vibrant,” player Harv Martinez said in a written release. “The new direction in creating a new nickname allows for us re-brand our product and promote the team in a more current and sensitive manner.”
The club plans to select a new name prior to their AGM in early November.
