Demolition is already underway on the Travellers Building less than 24 hours after the building caught fire.

The fire broke out around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night. Crews battled flames as winds gusted as high as 60 kilometres an hour.

Fire crews were on scene all night fighting the blaze.

The building dates back to the 1920’s, but hasn’t been used in several years. It was designated as a Heritage Site back in 2001.

Northbound traffic on the 1800 block of Broad Street is being detoured.

The cause of the blaze is still unknown.
