A Regina man is facing charges after a 16-year-old girl was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian collision.

Eighteen-year-old Levi Noel Bear has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death and failing to remain at the scene of a fatal collision.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, police responded to Mikkelson Drive in north Regina, where they found the victim lying on the ground.

An empty vehicle that had crashed through a fence at the scene was still running when officers arrived.

The critically injured girl was taken to hospital, where she later died. Her name hasn’t been released.

Patrol units searched the area, but were unable to locate the driver. The suspect turned himself in to police early Monday morning.

Bear made a brief court appearance Monday afternoon. The case was adjourned to Wednesday.
