RCMP say a 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital after a "member-involved" shooting in a small community southeast of Regina.

White Butte RCMP received a report of a distraught male at a home in Kronau shortly after noon Monday.

Mounties say when officers arrived at the scene, a firearm was discharged and a 17-year-old boy was injured.

The teenager was taken to hospital in Regina and details on the extent of his injuries haven’t been released.

RCMP wouldn’t confirm who fired the weapon. CTV News spoke with a neighbour on the street, who said she saw a police cruiser pull up, then two officers got out and approached a young man on a front lawn.

She said she then saw officers draw a weapon, she heard a bang, and then saw the youth drop to the ground.

Regina police have been called in to conduct an independent, external investigation into the shooting.
