A Regina murder trial is hearing testimony from a 16-year-old boy who says he witnessed the killing of Shawn Douglas.

The teen testified Tuesday that he was at a party at a house on Toronto Street with Joshua Wilson, Dennis Thompson and Aiden Anaquod the night Douglas died.

The teen said Douglas was also at the party and people were talking about robbing him. He said Douglas “freaked out” and tried to leave, but Wilson stopped Douglas by threatening him with a knife.

Wilson and two women then argued about what to do with Douglas, the teen testified. He said Wilson and the two women took Douglas to a nearby bank to get money, then returned to the house.

Afterward, Peepeetch and some other men arrived, and Peepeetch kicked Douglas in the face, the teen said. One of the men, who was armed with a sword, angrily demanded who was in charge, he said.

While the man with the sword was arguing with Peepeetch and Wilson, someone warned the police were on the way. They all fled and drove across the city, then pulled over on Quebec Street to regroup.

The teen said Peepeetch was angry that Douglas had seen their faces. He said Douglas tried to run, but Peepeetch and Anaquod stopped him. Several of them fought to get Douglas in the trunk of the vehicle.

Wilson, Thompson and Peepeetch are on trial for first-degree murder in the death of Douglas, whose body was found in a rural area northeast of Regina in August 2014.
