Two teenaged girls are facing charges after a stolen truck hit 16 parked vehicles in Regina's Cathedral area early Tuesday morning.

Around 5:30 a.m., police were dispatched to a report of a hit and run in progress in the area of Athol Street and 13th Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a truck that had hit another vehicle. The occupants of the truck had fled, and police learned that a total of 16 parked vehicles had been struck in the same manner.

A person who witnessed the crash managed to detain two of the people seen running from the truck until police arrived. A third suspect, believed to be male, fled toward Garnet Street and was not located.

One of the suspects, a 15-year-old girl, suffered a minor cut and was taken to hospital.

The 15-year-old girl has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000. A 16-year-old girl faces 16 charges, including impaired driving, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

The two girls, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear in youth court Nov. 24.

The third suspect is still being sought and anyone with information that could help with the investigation is asked to contact Regina police or Crime Stoppers.
